MARANA — Annexation affidavits submitted by Marana property owners, including Dove Mountain Resort Properties, Marriott Dove Mountain, Dove Mountain Golf Properties and two residential properties within the Ritz Carlton residential development, all in the area of Dove Mountain Boulevard and Secret Springs Drive, were accepted by the Northwest Fire District Governing Board on June 26.
Several residential lots in the area are still without fire service. However, as a result of the June 26 annexations, these lots are now contiguous with fire district boundaries and owners may opt to annex into the district at their discretion.
A series of annexation affidavits were also submitted to the board from property owners in a region located to the southwest of the Tangerine and Camino de Mañana area in Pima County.
According to NWFD Administrative Manager Carla Reece, “The annexation of the residential properties along the west side of Camino de Mañana is particularly important because it allows the district to provide fire and Emergency Medical Services to individuals who had previously been in an area with no dedicated fire service of any kind. The Town of Rillito and the Lost Wells-Teal Blue Trail neighborhoods are other examples of the district’s ongoing work to find ways to protect and serve such communities."
The Northwest Fire/Rescue District provides professional fire protection, emergency medical services and related public education to 110,000 residents and 3,300 commercial occupancies in a 140 square mile area. Ten fire stations are staffed 365 days a year by 192 firefighters, who are also Paramedics or Emergency Medical Technicians and can respond to emergencies within minutes. Northwest Fire’s Technical Rescue Team responds to calls for swift water, confined space and rugged terrain rescue. The nationally accredited not-for-profit district was formed in 1983 by residents of metropolitan Tucson’s northwest neighborhoods. It is governed by a five member Board and funded through secondary property taxes based upon assessed property value. Learn more at www.northwestfire.org.
