MARANA -- There is a lot of optimism surrounding Marana volleyball despite some big losses in the off-season. Not only did the Tigers lose some key players to graduation, but lost a handful of returners to club softball.

Duel in the Desert a huge success

MARANA, Marana Middle School was the host to a unique event last Saturday. The school hosted the first ever Duel In the Desert, an eight-team football scrimmage.
Eight area middle schools participated in the event, including both Marana and Tortolita Middle Schools. Each team played three 45-play scrimmages, getting to face three different teams in one setting.

Panthers maul the Tigers in opener

MARANA, Maybe it was an omen of things to come when the Marana football team lost their kicker and defensive back Randy LaFaye to a freak injury in warm-ups. LaFaye suffered a severe ankle sprain during a pre-game tackling drill and things proceeded to go downhill from there.

Youth Baseball Raffle

The Tucson Angels, a youth club baseball team mae up of players from Marana, is raffleing off a brand new, handmade baseball mitt. The glove was given to the team by Dominated Gloves specifiacally to raffle off. You can check them out at dominusa.com. First up is the Marana swim team who hits next Tuesday when they go on the road to face CDO.
