Mountain Lions take two of three on the diamond

Posted: Wednesday, Apr 11th, 2012

Mountain View’s Jerry Teague makes contact with a pitch last Tuesday against Tucson High. The Mountain Lions won the game 7-4.

MARANA — One bad inning was all that separated the Mountain View baseball team from a perfect 3-0 week.

Canyon Del Oro escaped with a 4-2 win against the Mountain Loins baseball team on Friday afternoon, getting all four runs in one inning.

Graham Spraker pitched a gem of a game, save for a rough fourth inning that saw the Dorados score all four of their runs in the bottom half of the inning. Of course the same could be said for his CDO counterpart as the Lions scored both of their runs in the same inning.

Spraker was great for five of the six innings he pitched. He scattered five hits and allowed just nine baserunners, but took the loss.

Cecil Fuentes and Devon McPeek drove in Ruben Lerma and Spraker in the top of the fourth. Austin Moore was a perfect 2-2 on the day and reached base all four times he came up thanks to a walk and being hit by a pitch.
