The Marana girls golf team is having their first ever Lady Tigers Golf Tournament this weekend. The proceeds from the tournament will aid the program in providing equipment for the team.
The event is this Saturday, but there is still a chance to play 18 holes at the Quarry Pines Golf Club, while contributing to a good cause. It is the same course the Marana golf teams call home during the regular season.
Last year the team had seven golfers and has had season with even more golfers. Girls golf at Marana attracts both experienced golfers and those new to the sport. Head Coach John Sugameli has made the program very inclusive and it provides an avenue for students who might not otherwise compete in interscholastic athletics.
Several of his top golfers the past few seasons were near novices when they first joined the team.
The Cost is $100 per person and for the fee you get 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, use of the practice range, a gift bag, a shirt and a buffet lunch.
For more information call Coach Sugameli at 954-4779 or 616-5436.
