MARANA — Students at Twin Peaks Elementary School took part in a school wide event called “Healthy School Scavenger Hunt” on Friday. It was all part of the school’s Elementary Fitness for Life program.
The Elementary Fitness for Life program is set up to focus attention on physical activity and nutrition particularly during four weeks of the school year. One week, in every nine weeks of school, the entire school focuses on wellness, emphasizing sound nutrition and regular physical activity including learning lessons in the classroom regarding healthy eating and leading an active life. After completing all four weeks, Friday’s fun filled Scavenger Hunt tested a student’s nutritional knowledge and physical activity levels.
During the morning, students rotated through twelve fitness stations at ten-minute intervals. At each station, students had eight minutes to answer a nutrition question and then participate in a physical activity.
