TUCSON — The Southern Arizona Logistics Education Organization (SALEO) is offering several $1,000 scholarships for students who are a dependent of someone working in or retired from a transportation or logistics occupation or are sponsored by a SALEO member. Information and the application form are online at http://www.saleo.org/docs/SALEO_Scholarship_Application.pdf. Applications are being accepted until the extended deadline of Sept. 7.
SALEO is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advance global logistics through education, networking, and workforce development. At SALEO, logistics providers and users share best practices and learn about the latest issues affecting transportation and logistics. The group also offers logistics professionals in transition, the opportunity to network with potential employers. SALEO’s president is Al Altuna, Jr., of Altuna Logistics International.
As part of its educational mission, SALEO has offered scholarships for the past four years. These are funded by proceeds of SALEO’s annual scholarship golf tournament (https://www.saleo.org/docs/2012_two_page_flyer.pdf ) and other activities. For 2011, a total of $9,000 in scholarships went to nine outstanding Tucson area students. Winners for 2012 will be recognized Sept. 22, at the awards luncheon on the day of the tournament.
