Why are people still opposing the landfill? Expert reports have shown that the Marana Regional Landfill is safe.
The opposition falsely claims water contamination and health risks as their reasons to fight but show no facts backing their claims. They simply use scare tactics to try to get people to support their beliefs.

WHEN Ora Mae Harn died last month after a courageous battle with cancer, the community lost both a friend and a woman who knew how to build coalitions to improve the quality of life in Marana.

I am concerned about any group that claims to want a better Marana, yet supports the dumping of 1,500 tons of garbage in west Marana every day. During the Aug. 17 Marana Council meeting I watched as DKL's representative Michael Racy stepped to the podium to address the council.
He started by apologizing to the council for his actions or words at a Heritage Highlands meeting. At that meeting the representative for DKL had called one of the people in our group a communist. ...more
