MARANA — With 100 percent of the precincts counted, Democrat Ron Barber has won Gabrielle Giffords seat in congress.
Voter turn out was 47.13 percent, with this being the only item on the ballot.
Barber won with 52 percent, or 101,559 votes. Opponent Republican Jesse Kelly came in second with 45 percent, or 88,569 votes. Green Party candidate Charlie Manolakis received 2 percent of the vote with 4,482 votes cast for him.
This was a special election for the final eight months of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ term in Congress.
