MARANA — The town honored one it's own on Tuesday night.
Barbara Johnson, general manager for public services, was honored for service to the town with a proclamation signed by Marana Marana Ed Honea during the Marana Town Council's meeting on Tuesday night. Johnson is retiring next week.
"I've never received anything like this," Johnson said after the proclamation was read. "We couldn't do it without being a team."
Johnson started with the town in December 2006. During her time with the town, she oversaw such projects as the Silverbell realignment and the Twin Peaks interchange.
"I believe in Marana," Johnson said. "I believe in the community."
Honea told the council that Johnson has been the heart and soul of many of the town's operations.
