TUCSON — On June 22, at approximately 7:11 p.m., Pima County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a collision between a car and a motorcycle at Picture Rocks Road and Sandario Road.
Upon arrival, deputies found that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 55-year-old Bruce Gordon Purdy, had been struck head on by a Suzuki SUV. Police officials say the evidence at the scene indicated that the 39-year-old female driver of the SUV was driving eastbound on Picture Rocks Road and then crossed over into the westbound lane where she struck the motorcyclist.
Purdy was airlifted from the scene to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. The female driver and sole occupant of the SUV suffered minor injuries. Police recovered a small amount of marijuana was found inside the car and a blood sample was obtained from the driver.
