CRLL Majors take first game (Updated 6/26 9:35 a.m.)

Continenal Ranch's Gabriela Garcia

The Continental Ranch Majors softball team used a huge third inning to beat Canyon View 10-3 Monday night in the first round of the District 5 Little League All-Star Tournament.

Zaryna came home to score in the first on a Canyon View error and Bailey Thompson scored on a second inning wild pitch after drawing a lead-off walk.

Continental Ranch broke the game open with a five-run third.

Urbina led off the inning with a single and back to back walks put Gabriela Garcia and Karolina Perez on base. Urbina scored on a wild pitch, Garcia scored on a Haley Basye single and Perez scored on a delayed double steal after Basye took second and drew a throw.

Basye and Thompson also scored on a wild pitch and a stolen base. In fact, the Continental Ranch aggressive base running kept Canyon View on their heels all night long.

Bayse drove in two more runs in the fourth. She laced a liner down the third base line for a double that scored Garcia and kept racing around the bases, forcing Canyon View to throw. Two errors allowed on the same play her to come all the way around to score.

Across the bracket Marana edged Thornydale, escaping with an 11-10 win. Marana will next face Continental Ranch Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Arthur Pack. The winner will advance to the championship series.

In the loser's bracket Thornydale will meet Canyon View. They meet on Wednesday at Crossroads Park.
