This past weekend Marana competed in the AzFCA tournament in Suprise Arizona.
“I thought it was our best overall outing to date,” said Marana Head Coach Andy Litten. “It was incredibly competitive with all the big heavy hitters in Phoenix.”
The Tigers went 2-2 in their seeding bracket losing a close game to Peoria by 2 points and Chapparal, one of the best programs in the state. Marana beat Dysart and Willow Canyon.
In the tournament portion they played Liberty and lost in the very last minute on a tipped ball touchdown. The Tigers rallied in the consolation bracket by beating two more teams includig St Mary’s.
That set up a meeting with Chandler Hamilton's Junior squad in the championship. They came up just short in the championship, losing in the last minute.
“Overall I was proud of how we competed,” Litten said. “More than anything I am happy with how we've progressed with learning and developing our very complex offense.”
