Wednesday Night All-Star re-cap

9/10 Baseball

Thornydale stayed alive in the tournament with an 11-1 win over Tucson Mountain on Wednesday night. The win sets up a Friday night match-up with Western.

Continental Ranch returns to action Thursday night in the winnerís bracket with a match-up with Coronado. Both teams are undefeated.

Marana is also in the loserís bracket and will play Friday night.

10/11 Baseball

Thornydale claimed one of four spots in the Championship Playoff with a 16-6 win over Amphi on Wednesday night. It was the third win in a row for Thornydale. They have outscored oppoenents 46-12 in those three games.

Thornydale will meet CDO in the first game of the championship bracket.

Continental Ranch were eliminated from the tournament with a 14-4 loss to Frontier.

Majors Baseball

All three local teams were eliminated from having the ability to win the Majors tournament on Wednesday night.

Thornydale was eliminated with an 8-6 loss to Continental Little League in their half of the Loserís Bracket.

In the bottom half of the bracket both Marana and Continental Ranch lost. Marana fell 10-6 to Sabino Canyon, while Amphi edged Continental Ranch 6-3.

All three teams are not done with All-Star play, they will continue on with at least one more game in the Consolation Bracket. In fact one local team is guaranteed to play for the consolation championship as Marana and Thornydale meet in the first round Saturday night. Continental Ranch will meet Tanque Verde in the first round, also on Saturday night. Both games are at 7:30 and will take place at Mehl Park.

Juniors Baseball

Thornydale dropped their first game of the tournament, falling 3-2 to Western on Wednesday night. Both teams won their opening round games in impressive fashion.

Thornydale drops to the Loserís Bracket and will face the CDO/Sabino Canyon winner on Saturday night. If they win they would get a re-match with Western, but would need to beat Western twice to win the championship. Thornydale already beat Sabino Canyon 12-2, while CDO gave up 26 runs in their first round loss.

Majors Softball

Continental Ranch advanced to the championship rounds in the Majors Softball Tournament with a 13-1 win over Marana Little League. The win means that Continental Ranch will need to win just one out of their next two games to clinch the district championship.

Marana will play Thornydale for a chance to face Continental Ranch in an elimination game Friday night. Thornydale stayed alive with a 14-4 win over Canyon View. Marana edged Thornydale 11-10 in the first round of the tournament.
