MARANA — Marana Police arrest a man hiding inside an air duct at a local bank.
On July 7, at 2:30 a.m., the Marana Police Department responded to Canyon Community Bank, 8631 N. Silverbell, in reference to a business alarm.
Officers arrived and discovered the roof hatch to the bank was tampered with. They conducted a search of the roof and discovered that the suspect was hiding inside the air conditioning duct.
The suspect, Jesse Nolan Gatlin, 22, was taken into custody after it was discovered he was in possession of a handgun and a mask. According to police, Gatlin admitted to entering through the roof and planned on robbing the bank once it opened in the morning.
The bank is only open Monday through Friday.
Gatlin was booked into the Pima County Detention Center on one count of attempted armed robbery, a Class 3 Felony, and one count of first degree burglary, a Class 3 Felony.
