How long have you worked for the town?
Eleven years as of July 2.
What do you enjoy most about working for Parks and Rec?
I canít believe I get paid to enjoy the outdoors, play, host events and serve the community of Marana through recreation.
How did your career path develop?
I have bachelorís degree in physical education from the University of Ohio and did graduate work in Therapeutic Recreation at Eastern Washington University. From there I had several jobs in mental health treatment centers and facilities in Georgia and Arizona. I then sold wholesale cacti for a while, but decided to get back into recreation and applied with the Town of Marana as a Recreation Assistant. Since I have had several positions overseeing various programs and I am now the Outdoor Coordinator.
What is one of your favorite family memories?
I enjoyed summers in Michigan with my grandmother.
Who were some of your role models as a child growing up?
I have always looked up to my mother and grandmother and Dr. Catherine Brown, one of my college professor and Miss Osterman, my high school P.E. Teacher.
What would be your ideal vacation?
Time on the beach.
What are your favorite movies?
Raising Arizona and Fargo.
Where would we most likely find you on a weekend afternoon?
Outside enjoying the outdoors of Arizona.
What in your life would you still like to do or achieve?
I have always wanted to have a park or facility named after me because of my dedication and commitment.
What is one thing that most people probably donít know about you?
I tried out for an Olympic field hockey team for the Summer Olympics of 1982.
