Who should be this year's Man, Woman, Educator and Student of the Year?

MARANA — The Marana Rotary Club is looking for nominations of who should be this year's Man, Woman, Educator and Student of the Year.

This title is awarded to the individual who has significantly contributed to the Marana community through volunteer service, civic and/or business involvement, and advocacy. Displaying leadership and integrity, this individual will have demonstrated a history of commitment to “giving back.”

Nominations are currently being accepted.

To nominate someone for Man or Woman of the Year, please submit the name, address and phone number of the individual, as well as answering the following questions: the nominee’s volunteer service to the Marana community by giving specific examples, examples of leadership qualities and/or cooperative efforts to promote business or civic enterprises, and finally, providing any special accomplishments, achievements, and/or additional information about the nominee that provide examples of giving back to the Marana community. This information can be faxed to (520) 908-0455 or emailed to news@maranaweeklynews.com.

To nominate someone for Educator of the Year, please submit the name, address and phone number of the individual, as well as answering the following questions:share examples of personal and/or professional contributions that promote the academic and personal development of students; share the nominee’s volunteer service to the educational community in Marana that enhances support for students; provide any special accomplishments, achievements, and/or additional information about the nominee that provide examples of giving back to the Marana community; and share biographical information - where the nominee went to college, what positions have they held, how long in current position.

Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m., on Oct. 3.

The Rotary Heritage Awards dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Heritage Highlands Club House. Cocktails and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 each or a reserved table of 10 for $500. To purchase tickets, call John Dooling at 520-744-3998.

Last year, the Rotary Club of Marana presented the awards to Marana Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ed Stolmaker for Man of the Year and Marana Town Council member Carol McGorray for Woman of the Year.

Marana High School teacher Lori Vargo was named Educator of the Year and Catherine Rigby, a Marana High School senior, was named Student of the Year.

The Town of Marana will also present its Branding Iron and Ora Mae Harn Legacy Awards during the dinner.
